  • VDB and Houdini

    Hey Group!

We are usually rendering products for clients but lately more and more particles are needed for this.

We've been using Fume FX, Phoenix within Max, and Turbulence FD.....However, I'm starting to think Houdini might be a good solution for us. Would Houdini render seamlessly in C4D with Vray or would we have to export all particle sims like we're currently going out of other programs?

    Thanks,
    Brian

    Hey Brian3D ,
Can you give me some more information about this. If you're trying to directly render particles from Houdini with the Houdini engine in Cinema 4D then V-Ray won't render them unless they're geometry (simple spheres for example). Otherwise you can load exported vdb sims from Houdini inside the V-Ray Volume Grid to render them with V-Ray in Cinema 4D. Give it a go and I'll be happy to assist you if you have any questions.

Got it.....yeah, just trying to figure out what particle systems could render natively with Vray. I think it'll be up to those programs to support Vray at some point.

Of course, maybe we just get Phoenix someday for C4D? lol
