  • Background

Hi, sometimes I use a light for my background - I like the usage in VFB. But if my sun is in the same direction like my background, the light-plane will make shadows, so I have no sun in my room. Is it possible to dectivate the light shadow. It's not working with the Vray-Compositing-Tag! Hope you know, what i mean.

    Best regards, Harry

    Hello HarrySeidl,

I am not sure I understand what you mean. Would you mind sharing an example scene or a screenshot where the issue is visible? Thank you.

The background ist a light (rectangle light) - so I like to adjust in the VFB-window! Is it possible without making shadows? Thx

It is very useful for szenes inside... But it is the same system! If you want a bright background in the window...

Why do you have the background image as a light? You can add a Background object, then add the texture to the Diffuse channel of a V-Ray Material and apply the material to the Background object. Please check this video.

Alternatively, you could add the background directly in the VFB as a separate layer and then control it separately from the rendered image. Please check this video.

Let me know if that helps.

No, if you are looking through more than one windows, your second choise doesn't work... I also miss the dome-light - if you check this on, your background doesn't work. Look here... The best control, you have with the light - have tried a lot. The second is my version of background.

Does light linking fix that for you?

I kind of agree with Harry, though. It looks like a V-ray light occludes other lights when it's visible, but there should be an option to turn that off (like you can when they're invisible):
