  • Vray creates multiple files for different passes. Can I stop that from happening?

When I use the denoiser and post-effects in the VFB I get not 1 but 4 separate files (in the location designated by the Vray image output system). The Raw render, The Normals, The EffectsResults and the Denoised Render. While I do like the separate files when I define them in the Render elements, most of the time I just need the applied effects and denoiser in a single final image and not a number of extra files that I have not requested and have no use for.

Now the answer might be: Don't be lazy. Just delete them. I try to do that but I would like to not have to in the first place. Especially while iterating and testrendering.

Where, if at all, can I tell Vray to only save a final Effect results file and not also supply me with the raw, denoised, and normal file?

For the sake of my limited hard drive space, strained nerves and in hopes of a swift end to my torment.

    Hello corvin_hiller,

To do that, make sure you enable "Don't Save Alpha Channel" and "Don't Save RGB Channel" in the V-Ray Image Output rollout. Also, in the Advanced rollout of the Denoiser, make sure that you set the Mode to "Hide the Channel with the Denoised Result in VFB". Please check this screenshot. Keep in mind that if you use the Nvidia denoiser or Intel denoiser, the Normals channel will still be saved.

If you also use any lens effects but you don't want to save the Glare Channel, make sure to disable the "Save Glare channel" option in the Lens Effects settings as shown here.

This way you should only save the EffectsResult channel. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank You for Your input. That is already a tremendous help.

The denoiser thing is a bummer though. The Intel denoiser is so much more consistent then the Default.

        Hello corvin_hiller,

Please note that with the latest V-Ray 6 for Cienam4D, update 1 we have added an option to save only the RGB Channel when denoiser or lens effects are active. More about that can be found here. You can download the latest builds from here. You can also find what's new in Update 1 by checking this forum post.
