Is there a new workflow for using the C4D shader Terrain Mask or is it not implemented yet?

it mgiht not bake right as this is basically a falloffshader depending on the scene.

never used a Terrain mask, even didn't know that it exist... just referred to the manual, so good to know now..

          Thanks.

          from the help file:

          Footnotes

Cinema 4D shaders marked as BAKED are supported by V-Ray via the Bake Cinema 4D Shaders option available in Render Settings > Overrides > Textures or via the VRayC4DBake texture.

Bake C4D option in render settings Textures override is ticked - not working
VRayC4DBake texture option - also not working

it seems it ignores the height parameters from the terrain mask.

ups, when I looked last time, vertex map was the only not supported one... my mistake, I mixed something up

Since the c4d terrain mask is not working anymore - does anybody know how to generate mountain textures like the ones from the Vray 5 for C4D promotion video?

                Hey mrudolf ,
I've already made an example video on how this could be done with the V-Ray Distance texture for another user, and it seems like a good opportunity to share it here as well until I upload something better on YouTube

Thank you Ivan, I will give it a try.

This is a really great example ...

I am very happy for any help I can get. Now I know how the distance shader works and how it interacts with the helper objects. The few lines in the Vray chaos documents do not really explain the workflow much. I am also very grateful to Sirio who has helped me in the past several times with answers to my questions. I have also purchased some of his great products like the new metal shaders and the old scenes and shader packages (which with the change to Vray 5 all became obsolete, except for the textures)

Unfortunately in this case Ivan's method for a workaround for the terrain mask does not work as it does not address the impact of the slope of the landscape (there should not be snow on the steep part of the mountain)
It would be great to hear from the artist that made the Vray5 for c4d promotion video scene how he/she did the mountain textures.

We're planing short video tutorials for pretty much everything, and we will add those in the documentation as well. Until then, I'll personally start doing some quick videos to explain some functionality and basics as well as the differences and changes in the workflow between 3.7 and V-Ray 5.
Feel free to ask anything on the forums I'll be happy to help and make videos if needed.

                            Hi,
I resume this old post not to open a new one and to ask if the terrain mask shader integration is in your to-do-list or not.
The distance shader is a nice function, but can't absolutely be compared to the terrain mask one, for realism, easy of setting and managing, and then can't be considered a workaround.

Vray for C4D is becoming "mature" day by day but there are still some basic functions I miss, not only comparing it to the other vray versions, but also to itself.

I use this same post to also ask updates of another shaders that (as far as I know) doesn't have any possible workaround and is still missing, edges shader.

in addition, any update regarding mesh light?

Sorry for all these questions, but I don't see any of these in Shaio's planned features post, and this gets me afraid that none of them will soon be integrated...unfortunately...
                            Thanks

Agree 100%, there is no good workaround for the terrain mask shader.
