  • Environment Fog bug, unable to exclude lights as mentioned in the help docs

    Easy to recreate,

    1) Add Environment Fog
    2) Add two lights
    3) Drag one of the lights into the Environment Fog object (as per documentation)
    4) Hit render

Both lights end up interacting with it.

I've tried everything, adding container object into environment fog object, attempted to use Exclude feature from the light.

No matter what, all lights in the scene interact with it.

Only way to stop a light from interacting with a fog is to disable 'Diffuse' check box under light Options tab.

Hi imdb, this indeed is a bug on our end. I have logged an issue (VC4D-985) and we will try to fix this soon. Thanks for your report, we will update this thread once this is fixed.

Hello, I have a similar problem with Vray 5.2 on Mac but the difference is that the light disappears and doesn't interact with the fog as soon as I place it as child underneath the enviroment fog.

        Hello michael_heinz1,

Generally, only polygon objects should be placed as children of the Environment fog and it is expected that the lights are not rendered once placed as children of the fog. We will be changing the way the lights are included/ excluded from the fog and I will let you know (and update our documentation page) once this is done.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
