I cant use multiinstances because I use Vray Proxies in conjunction with Cloner set to renderinstances....

Hope Chaosgroup fixes that soon. Its very essential. I use cloner and instances set to renderinstances A LOT.

Have you tried using straight instances. Seems like it's working faster than Render Instances at the moment.

Are your proxied projects/mesh contain cloners which contain render instances?

I tried instances, which is of course brutally inefficient.

Iam using Cloner set to Renderinstance which contains Proxies.

If not then Iam using real geometry with renderinstance set. But thats absolutely the rare case.

Working with instances are slow in viewport and as far as I know: even proxies need to be renderinstanced so that they dont eat up my memory. But currently impossible as you can see in my videos. This is bad.

Until this is fixed unfortunately I have to go back to 3.7.
But Chaosgroup is very hardworking right now. Its a matter of time they will have that fixed. Iam pretty sure.

Hope they make this a priority. Because I surely CANT work with multiinstances and I NEED Renderinstances, proxies and cloner. My Scenes are extreme heavy.

So this has nothing to do with noise threshholds, Gi or Displacement. Its just the Renderinstance-Issue.

ChaosGroup pls make this highest priority because this means I cant work with Vray 5 anymore.

          Thx in advance!

                Hello,
I have a scene where nothing happens when hitting the render button for about 4 min..
                File size 8 GB
Click image for larger version Name:	Screenshot 2021-07-19 19.02.09.png Views:	0 Size:	6.0 KB ID:	1119953

Just some lights / 8 high poly cars and a floor... NO CLONER / NO MULTIINSTANCES
But some warning appear in the console..
Like: (just some of them / 400+ in total)

[WARNING] Multiple assignments with the same material may not render correctly. Material: Car Paint 2 Material, assigned on: Bremse VL
[WARNING] Multiple assignments with the same material may not render correctly. Material: VRCS_EXT_STEEL_SILVER, assigned on: BB
[WARNING] Multiple assignments with the same material may not render correctly. Material: V-Ray Standard Material, assigned on: HL_20170828_body__21
[WARNING] Multiple assignments with the same material may not render correctly. Material: V-Ray Standard Material, assigned on: _shell_02
[WARNING] Multiple assignments with the same material may not render correctly. Material: VR_EXT_WINDOW_CERAMIC_BLACK, assigned on: EX_COM_GLASS_F_WINDOW_TYPE_D__.1
[0h 0m 0.5s] [WARNING] Failed to init Texture RGB Color Space conversion from lin_adobergb to lin_srgb

Can someone explain what those means and could they be the reason, why 4 minutes nothing happens (in this case)?

                Thanks

EDIT: If I go with Material override (Simple grey VrayMat), doesn't make a big difference...

Do you use the same texture with the same name for an object for several selections?

Benutzt du bei einem Objekt für mehrere Selektionen die gleiche Textur mit gleichen Namen?

Oh yes... this makes sense... I am using the the same brake material for all brakes with selection tag..
But you don't see it, as the perspective of all cars is frontal...

                    Thanks Pardalis..

CG Why isn't Vray ignoring it, when using material override? Doesn't it cost too much time?
For example if you compare the material override with C4D Standard renderer and Vray...?
                    C4D is much faster..

Have you tried disabling ' Render Hidden Geometry' in Overrides > Geometry?

Thank you and honestly not before, but now.
But it makes no difference here. Only 10 sec in render time…
