  • Multimatte Outputs with Material Add enabled not working

    Hey guys,

I struggle at the moment with a render issue. I have made a banner, that contains 4 different materials that are stacked with the Add Material option, 3 of them have opacity maps. The final render would look like the picture.
However the single material IDs I have assigned arent rendered. They are just black. In the previous VRAY 3.7 that setup would work just fine. So is there anything that I have missed out or is this just not supported at the moment?

Interesting thing is that a blend material would also not work. So I guess the main issue are the opacity maps.

    Best regards

maybe worth to try to set the setting "affect alpha" to "affect all channels" in refraction channel(maybe this affects also opacity)

      Hello jonas_schneider,

Currently, this doesn't work in V-Ray 5 for Cinema4D. I have reported it to our developers for fixing (bug ID: VC4D-1210) and I will let you know once we have any updates on the matter.

      Thank you.

        Hi @aleksandar.kasabov,

Are there any updates regarding the multiple materials and material mattes on a single object? It has been 5 months since this issue was reported and this is a really important feature to have. The ability to use mattes on a material level is really important

              Hello akos_kiss,

Our developers are working hard to fix existing bugs and introduce new features to V-Ray 6 for Cinema4D. However, I am afraid that I cannot provide a specific timeframe for when this bug will be fixed. It is already with a higher priority and I will let you know as soon as we have any updates on the matter.

              Thank you for your understanding.

+1 for this. Its been broken since vray 5 the blend materials and stacked material tags "block" the multimatte RE, the cryptomatte RE also cant separate things. This was really useful back in 3.7

it (stacked materials) also breaks the "round edge" feature.

                        Hello tomschmid,

We are aware of this issue and it is logged in our system (bug ID: VC4D-1087). This has been reported previously here. Currently, when you try to render such stacked materials you will get a warning in the console.

I will let you know once we have more information on the matter.
