  • 2.1 Update: Crash when opening v2.0 scene with Cosmos material

    Hi Devs,
I've just updated to 2.1 this morning and opened a scene I created with 2.0 and C4D instantly crashed. I narrowed it down to the Cosmos Browser material I was using, so I opened it in r24, deleted the material and it opens fine now.
Can this be filed as a bug?
    Thanks

Hi KernitTheFont, we fixed a regression in 5.20.01 in the stable builds. Could you test if the crash is reproduced with one of our latest stable builds, located here: https://nightlies.chaos.com/#/vray5c4d/stable

Hi Deyan, I wish I could, but unfortunately installs are controlled by our IT department. I did reapply the same material to my scene from the cosmos browser though and the file opens fine.

Luckily that's the first time i've used a Cosmos Browser asset so hopefully it won't crash on future Vray updates if I use them.

The issue is observed only when a scene with affected materials is opened in Cinema 4D. Performing a render before opening the scene should workaround the issue.

We will be releasing an official release very soon, to address this issue. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks shaio , yes the particular material from Cosmos Browser had a UVW randomizer in it as mentioned in the bug fixes.
