  • Vray Override or Rayswitch material and alternative solutions

    Hi!

I have a question regarding the implementation of the override/ rayswitch material. We are currently doing a project that has a lot of coloured reflective materials and metals. We are having issues with really heavy "gi bleed" and discolouration. Unfortunately removing these with CC in post is not an option due to the amount of elements. Amd ot ,ales
As far as I understand currently we don't have an in render solution for this issue. Currently we have to duplicate all of the elements causing the "gi bleed" an make one visible to camera, with no gi contribution with the original material, and make a second one with a white material that is not visible to the camera but it contributes to the gi. This is a workaround but a cumbersome one.
I would like to urge or request the Developer Team to set a higher priority for the override material as it is a really useful and much needed feature.

    Hello akos_kiss,

Implementing V-Ray Override material is on our to-do list and will be implemented in the future. However, currently, I cannot provide any specific timeframe for when this will happen. I will make sure to mention this thread and I will let you know once we have more information. Thank you.

      Hello akos_kiss,

I am happy to share with you that our developers have introduced the V-Ray Override material and it is available in our latest stable build, which you can download from here.

It is available both as classic and node material and gives you fine control over the color bleeding, reflections, refractions, and shadows of the objects.

Have a look at it and let me know if you have any questions.
