Hi Nuno, you just need to use two separate copies of the same material, it was like that also on 3.7 version.

      Hi Stefano
thanks for the answer... but actualy on 3.7 we could use the same material wiht diferent selections and orientations...:S
that is a shame that we can not use a unique material but with different orientations... for that i prefer to split the roof and orientate the same material.
      thanks anyway
here is a screenshot from the 3.7 version

        Hello nunomatos,

You can still do that in V-Ray 5 for Cinema4D. Just keep in mind that you will need to use UVW mapping for the projection type of the materials. Please check this screenshot. You can also find a simple test scene attached below.

          Hi aleksandar.kasabov
thanks for this. I know that with proper UVW we can use the same material but you know that is faster to add a cubic projection map and adjust
          but i'll follow
          best regards

by the way using UVW you don't need to have selection tags or two material tags... but for that you will need to unwrap things:S
            but thanks

EDIT: I was too quick to post. The results I was getting are using an internal version, apologies for the confusion I might have created.

can you send over that sample scene?
I tried to reproduce it on my side, but seems to work as you've expected

This is something i ran into recently too. For example, when texturing wood grain on cabinet doors, i used to use selection tags to isolate parts of the mesh for mapping the wood grain correctly.

I have attached an example c4d file with a couple examples that used to work in vray 3.7.

The other use case for selection tags is to instance geometry with selection tags(no materials) and apply the materials with selection tags to the instances. We use this to quickly create variations of the original object. This used to work in vray 3.7 and does not work in vray5, i believe it is related to the OP's issue.

My current workaround is to split the mesh or generate uw maps from the cubic maps.

Runs very unstable here.. especialy when i load big textures and disable mipmap it crashes very often. I downgraded to the februar build and the crashes disapeared.. sad i realy ned this bugfix with the selection-tags

Hi tomschmid , can you provide more details on those crashes? Can you tell us if are you using V-Ray GPU and some hardware specifications? Are you using classic materials or node materials? Also if you can provide a simple test scene reproducing the issue it would help us greatly to find the reason.

                              Thanks in advance.
