  • Problem texture loading on node material

    hi,

I'm having problems with old scenes where I used node materials. He doesn't seem to see textures.
For a few months now I have only been using standard materials due to various slowness problems with node materials, there are various posts on the forum. I hope that the situation will be resolved in the future.
Below is a video with the latest problem just encountered. I'm using the latest build from jan 23 2024 (v6.20.00)

Hi visualtracing__ , from your video it seems that the node previews have encountered a major problem. Can you provide us with more details - version of Cinema 4D, is there an error in the log (Extensions->Console or [Shift+F10]), and it would be best if you can also send us the scene so we may investigate it more closely.

Yes there are many errors in the registry, I attach a screenshot. Can you send me a direct email so I can send you the scene?
      Thank you

Can you open a support ticket from this link - our support team will open an issue and we will handle it from there.

Hey again visualtracing__, upon inspecting your scene all node materials (and nodes inside) rendered fine. But when the scene is opened, the node materials have black previews, which usually happens when the node material previews are disabled.

Could you double-check if the node materials are enabled in your preferences:

Additionally, if they are already enabled, can you try renaming your preferences directory. Note that renaming it requires a restart of Cinema 4D to take effect. You can rename the preferences directory back to its original name later, to keep your previous preferences.

I'm so sorry, I missed it

for the rest, how do you find the scene in terms of speed?

The speed seems OK to me. Note that recently (in the latest stable builds, after the official 6.20.00) we added some improvements to node material preview rendering, which should increase the overall performance and reduce lag.

But the material preview rendering is an ongoing topic for improvements and we will be working more for better speed in the future.

jumping in here, hope that's ok. visualtracing, it looks like you work with a fair amount of materials and textures. I'm curious what the task manager(windows tab) looks like:

Might be worth having open while you work to see if cinema is baking textures, material exchange.

                  HI!

it calculates only at the beginning when the scene opens, then it turns out to be regular without any process in progress
