When will the Material Converter for Vray 5 finally come out?
When is Vray 6 coming for C4D?

    Hello Wohnraumdesign,

When will the Material Converter for Vray 5 finally come out?
Are you referring to a converter that will convert native Cinema4D materials/scenes to V-Ray? If that is the case, we have a feature request for this (request ID: VC4D-819) but I cannot provide any specific timeframe for it.

When is Vray 6 coming for C4D?
There will, of course, be V-Ray 6 for Cinema 4D but for now, we can't provide any timeframe for that. We will let you know once we have more info to share. Thank you.

The new features of Vray6 look amazing. Can't wait for it!
But maybe you can tell what is the preferred software order at Chaos. Max, then Maya, what's next... for release? Experience says not C4D...?

        Hey guys,

Usually we develop most of the new features in V-Ray for 3Ds Max first, and after being tested and polished there, we start working on porting them to the other integrations with no particular order. It doesn't make much sense to start developing the same features everywhere at the same time. Occasionally we do have features that are developed in another integration first and then ported to 3Ds max.

        Experience says not C4D...?
We do our best to change that experience, and I'll be happy to know if you feel different after we release the next major version.

We're currently working on an initial version of the material converter, as it's written here in the feature list. When we release it initially, it will convert Standard C4D and classic V-Ray materials to V-Ray Node materials with some limitations, then will continue with conversion from Classic C4D materials to Classic V-Ray materials, and of course will continue improving the convertor alongside your initial feedback and our internal plan. This implementation should be flexible enough for us to be able to convert pretty much any natively supported material for rendering by V-Ray to Classic V-Ray or V-Ray Node material.

Totally honest, Vray5 is really great and is already such a booster for many works...
And the new features of Vray6 look great and could provide amazing possibilities.

It would be nice to be able to keep up with Max or Maya users to some extent.

yes it starts to get really interesting again!

to be honest i used a lot corona render last years, but latest vray 5/6 features are looking very tempting to use vray more again
a good material converter might help indeed, this was a missing thing in our workflow.

as corona and vray are both chaos products, would it be possible to make a corona<> vray converter, the materials are more or less the same system as it seems (only different gui), cosmos already supports both mat options.

i am also very interested in Enscape, and hope there will be options in more far future to connect vray(c4d) with it, similar to vantage.
