  • How do you work with RenderElements

    Hello folks,

I am interested in your workflow when you are setting up your RenderElements.

The typical ImagePasses are available in the VRAY RenderChannelNode.
How do you set up a fast setup for checking the typical passes (around 10) passes?

Do you have some kind of presets for that? In Maya it's a matter of double-clicking on a pass, in Houdini it takes much longer.

    Any best practice?

    Thanks a lot

    1. Have you checked the presets drop down?
    2. Have you tried creating a HDA and reuse it?

Regarding 1 I'll double check if it's documented, but it's actually a collection of Python scripts and you could customize / add your own.

      Hey pixeltrain ,

there are a couple of presets under the Images -> Render Elements part of the UI - you can hit the Generate button to automatically hook up a network with those.
You could also add your own presets, or make an OTL out of the render elements network.

I suppose others could chip in with some suggestions as well.

      Best regards!

        Thanks,
which preset drop-down do you mean, where can I find it?
The HDA would be the next step.
        Thanks,
        Helge

            https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...ion-glossiness

Check sub-directly "vfh_home/templates/re", there are some python files, those files are used to build the menu ROP->Images->Render Elements->Templates.
Create some use directory like "c:\home\vfh_user_home" and point VFH_USER_HOME env var to it, then create sub-directory structure "templates/re" there.
Copy and rename some template file from "vfh_home/templates/re", edit it to create the nodes you need with names u want.
