  • Light Cache in IPR degrades interactivity

    Hi all,

With V-ray 6 IPR now uses the Light Cache GI engine and this dramatically degrades the IPR interactivity, is there really much of an advantage to this besides having a closer match of the GI from IPR to Production?

Of course we can just disable the LC in the GI tab, but then we need to keep turning it ON for production renders and the same for sample countt, maybe some additional options in the IPR tab are needed to minimize this issue. Toggles for enable/disable Light cache in IPR and a sample count for IPR.

    Hello David,

    Thank you for posting!

Could you please let us know which V-Ray Build are you using?
If not the last one, you could try it and see if it works better for you: https://nightlies.chaos.com/main#/vray6houdini/nightly

      Hi viktor_angelov,

We are currently using the nightly build from the 10th of February. What adjustments to this behavior have been done in the latest nightly?

      Best,
      David

        Hello David,

Thank you for letting me know. I wanted to make sure you are up-to-date.

We have investigated the issue and cannot reproduce it on our side. Please, see the attached screen-recording.

Could you please let us know if this issue is depended on a scene or it is reproducible even on new projects?
Also, could you check if it happens only on one machine or the issue persists on other machines as well?

        Regards,

          Hi again

Just had a talk about this today with Gosho.Genchev, he knows what the issue is and will be able to point you in the right direction.

          Best,
          David.
