  • Non clamped curves

    Hi,

The curves are currently creating over 1.0 values and mostly likely also negative values.....This is most likely how you meat it to work so you can use this curves on inputs with values over 1.0 (HDRI images for example).
But for most cases, and specially on noises, if someone is clamping it, they expect flat white and black plateaus. Can we get this curves clamped by default, or at least a check box on this curves to automaticall clamp the values? Would save us quite a bit of clamp nodes, and mostly likely save time to the unaware artist that is wondering why is noise and masks are not working as expected.
    Example scene attached.

Bezier curve in noise creating over 1 values:

Bezier curve node creating over 1 values:

This then creates problems in layer nodes:

Unless you clamp it of course:

    Best,
    David.

Sorry, I was so tire yesterday that I didn't notice the "Use end Tangents" option....I think the name didn't cach my eye, was expecting something like this would be called "clamp" like in the "noise" node. Why did you rename it for this one?
    .
Can you guys add this option to the berconNoise curve?

    best,
    David.

      Hey, David,

that's the internal name of the parameter. I suppose we could rename it. To be fair, I would have dropped a Clamp too - this toggle didn't cross my mind at all.

      Best regards!

Yeah, maybe you guys can talk and change the name, for me doesn't make much sense caling it clamp in one place and "Use end Tangents" in another. It's like that "UV derivative Scale" on the object UVW, scale??? No, it's the uv blur. It's better to use more explicit names in the options.

        Best,
        David.

          Hi,

I noticed the latest version of V-Ray has the extrapolate curve points in the Bercon nose, thanks
