  • (Fixed) [HOU-3503] Lightinstancing

    Hello,

I don't know if I'm doing it the wrong way, but I can't get the vray Light to work with the Houdini instance node correctly.
It does instance the light but I want to use an attribute from the points to drive the intensity of the lights. I am using the point("geopath", instancepoint(), "attributename", 0) expression to get access to the current instance.

    Scene file provided below

    Greetings Lucca

basically I just want to replicate what was done in this example picture

We decided to make it easy on the user side and simply export v@Cd and f@intensity directly to the instanced lights if those attributes are present on the template points. Currently we only support those two but if you need control over other light parameters, just ping us and we'll add it.

One more thing - because attributes are discarded unless used by a shading node (e.g. User Color) to reduce the export time and VRScene size, you will also need to add V-Ray Object Properties to the node holding the instance points for the lights, and specify "Cd intensity" under the Forced Attributes parameter in the Main tab of the Object Properties.

    Hope that helps!

      Hi,

related problem here. I have spotlight with a gradient ramp pumped into the spotlights Emission Color. As soon as i instance this spotlight onto pnts using s@instance, the gradient ramp gets lost and the lights dont render. i need it on a live job right now, so it would be amazing if you have any insight to the method for it to work.

ive attached simple scene showing it.

      cheers
