  • Texture reference not working with V-Ray proxy meshes

Using V-Ray 51020 for Houdini 18.5.499 on Windows 10. Just letting you know it looks like neither rest attributes nor reference meshes work if you're using the vrayProxy node. Using a triplanar material works fine when rendering regular geometry but the textures slide when using a vray Proxy cache of the animation. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Just tested this with a simple sphere and noise texture and it still happens.

Use Alembic and native Houdini Alembic SOP.

Thanks but I already understand I can do that. The vray proxy node is preferred because it makes it faster to export vrscenes to deadline. Vray doesn't have to copy all the geometry to the vrscene files, it just links to whatever the vray proxy node is reading from.

Alembics need to be set to delayed load primitives, and you need to not unpack/edit the geometry after the alembic sop.
