  • (open)[HOU-2998]V-Ray Baker Tool | Light leaking

    Hi,
Just a heads-up about a weird behavior of the Baker Tool when baking lighting.
It looks like it is leaking lighting when dealing with thin/thick objects, especially when the amount of them is increasing.

In the scene below there are two lights with a very high intensity of 1000.
The red light is enclosed inside a tall cube, the green light is inside a rectangular tube. Once the amount of copies is increased, the green light starts to leak around.
There is no issue with the red light, it's not visible.

None of it happens when rendering with the default V-Ray mode so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the geometry or the lighting.

Hello mateusz_sum , there are no Light Cache controls exposed in the V-Ray BakerTool UI, this will be fixed when we update it. Until then you could change those settings by diving to V-Ray ROP inside the HDA: V-Ray BakerTool (node) > bakerROP (network) > vray (rop) > Renderer (tab) > Global Illumination (tab) and change Sample Size parameter value to 0.001 for example, this should fix light leaking in this case.

Thanks Georgy! That did the trick.

However, it is still interesting that the same sample size doesn't cause trouble with the default out/vray rop
