We just upgraded some workstations to 64 core threadripper pro and while production (bucket) rendering, the machines get extremely none responsive (you basically have to wait for it to finish rendering to be able to use it again). This is not as much the case for ipr nore is it the case in maya vray. The problem can be reduced by lowering the threads used but not by enabling "low thread priority". This was not necessary on the previous intel machines (which also had around 40 cores).
When testing it in maya, the machines' responsivness is also reduced but one can at least move other windows around. it gets a little better there when enabling "low thread priority". This lets me assume that it might be a houdini vray specific issue. happens in both vray5 and 6.
