  • GPU RTX Error

    Hi,

    I'm getting some errors when rendering in GPU RTX mode. CPU and CUDA are fine.

    I also get the errors with an old alembic which used to work 3 month ago

    This is the error:
    [12:02:13.338] Warning : Checking CUDA driver version: 5001: Installed driver version (566.36) is newer than the latest verified one (566.14)!
    [12:02:13.468] Error : [VUtils::VOptix::AccelerationStructure::buildAsync] 7900: OptiX error encountered in vray_optix7.cpp[2070]. Error Code 7900
    [12:02:13.559] Error : [RTOpenCL_impl::validate] 1: Abort was requested.
    [12:02:13.559] Warning : Cancelling GPU rendering!

    I'll send you the files via chaos support.

    I use Houdini 20.0.896 on Windows 10.

    Dear tobiasroesli, hello.

    As I wrote you in the ticket ( # 335894 ), the scene is rendering fine in our environment.
    About the GPU drivers - please take a look at this post: https://forums.chaos.com/forum/v-ray...ws#post1224560, where our V-Ray GPU specialist is sharing the recommended ones.
    And the whole topic is dedicated to the recommended installation ways.

    Waiting for your answer.

    Best regards,
    TS

      Hi tsvetomira.girginova ,

      thanks for the test

      I installed the recommended 566.14 Studio driver but I have still the same error...

      I also did a test with a different pc: Ryzen 5950x & RTX 4090. But same problems.

      Looks like I have to render this Project with CUDA.

      Cheers
      Tobias

        A little update for lost 3D Artists with the same Problem:

        since the issue that you are facing is related to RTX only, may I ask you to try even older GPU driver version?
        Recently we have contacted NVIDIA for a different issue, but again related to RTX performance.

        We have encountered that driver version 552.44 works well for these RTX issues.
        This solved the problem for me and I'm now able again to use GPU-RTX

          Thank you for confirming, Tobias!

          We will add your scene for test purposes and inform you when we have green light from NVIDIA for a stable RTX performance with newer driver versions.
          Glad to help!
