  • Matte objects and render vars

Hello I'm trying to render a scene where the background is set to matte with shadows (see the first attached picture).
This works fine if I leave "Ordered Render Vars" blank on my Render Product node.
In this case, I get some default passes such as "color" and "depth".
However, I would also like some additional render vars, like Cryptomatte.
As soon as I start adding entries to the "Ordered Render Vars" parameter, the default passes disappear.
In the "Vray Standard Render Vars", under the LPE tab, there's an entry called "Beauty", with the light path expression "C.*".
Unfortunately, this does not work correctly with my matte object (see second picture).

How do I enable the default "color" pass while using render vars?

    1. Are you using the latest build? Some time ago default LPE data/format was RGB, now it's RGBA.
    2. If this won't help I'll need a scene to check.

Thank you for the quick reply!

I've tested my scene in the latest build (vray_adv_52020_houdini19.0.498_abde1d8_21449_wind ows) and I'm afraid the problem persists.
I've mailed you a hip file illustrating the issue.
When using the LPE, the matte floor does not work correctly.
However, if I clear the "Ordered Render Vars" list, I get the expected output.

        Hi Marcus,

Did you ever work out how to do it? I have met exactly the same problem, and I can't find a way around it.
