Some feedback is that, instead of adding many render vars manually, I used this expression "/Render/Products/Vars/vraystandardrendervars/*", it uses a wildcard to select all rendervars at the path.

One more question I have is, how can we make sure that beauty is the first render var in the list so that we see it by default?

    Thanks
You may have already solved this, but just in case anyone else is wondering,
You can force the beauty pass to show up first by adding the beauty as the first entry in the Ordered Render Vars.

Like so: /Render/Products/Vars/vraystandardrendervars/vray_std_aov_beauty and then /Render/Products/Vars/vraystandardrendervars/*

We have no control over that menu sorting. I'm pretty sure it's just sorted by AOV name.
Currently, I've got aovs working, but once I enable them, my rgb channels go black. Is there a setting/way of defining what gets rendered in the rgb channels? I'm just trying to get my result back into those channels.
      Cheers.

        Dear tylerART, hello.

Excuse us for the delayed response.
Are you still experiencing the described issue? Is it happening in a particular scene or with every file?
I just tested AOVs in Solaris.

Could you please take a look at the Data Type of these problematic channels (which are rendered black).
Is it color3f? If you switch to color4f is there a difference?

        Waiting for your answer.

        Best regards,
        TS

I'm currently on Houdini 20.0.590 and VRay 6.20.01

Consider a simple scene like this:
Click image for larger version Name:	image.png Views:	0 Size:	38.8 KB ID:	1214526
When I render, either in the viewport or to disk, my RGB channel shows the resulting beauty channel.

Once I add a vraystandardrendervars and renderproduct, and add any channel and render to disk, my RGB channel is empty (black).
Click image for larger version Name:	image.png Views:	0 Size:	52.6 KB ID:	1214527

Note that this doesn't happen in Karma, only VRay.

          Cheers,

Thank you for the example, tylerART.

Please add Color Render Var as shown here:

Click image for larger version Name:	image.png Views:	0 Size:	1.27 MB ID:	1214564
As described in our docs, set the Data Type and Format to color4f.
Be sure that is also selected in renderproduct1 > Ordered Render Vars.
