  • (Done) [HOU-1334] vray materials openGl viewport

Is there a plan to make the vray materials get better represented in the viewport? Like picking up reflection and roughness and textures by default? Right now also the materialbuilder doesnt even pick up the color. Not a priority but wanted to check either way

btw tried vray viewport texture and couldnt find the viewport shading parameter on the material builder (https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ay+ViewportTex)

    Regards Alexis

Sure, we can add the relevant OpenGL properties. Currently they are on the Output VOP inside the Material Builder - assigning the Output itself should give you a diffuse texture preview.

As to the SOP node - we broke it after the change mentioned above. It needs fixing.

I'll try to take care of this later today.

    All the best!

I've added Diffuse, Opacity, Reflection and Displacement as OGL properties. The Texture fields are populated with the paths from ImageFile nodes inside the Material Builder.
The properties are present on the Output and the Builder itself, and linked to each-other.

It's not ideal but it's what we've got. If you guys have any ideas on ways to improve things, I'll be more than happy to give them a shot.

      Cheers!

          Hi!

I really miss to be able to preview my refraction materials as transparent in the viewport. Could you implement a opacity slider at least?

Definitely vray needs a better viewport representation.
