Hi,
That a cool option for sure, but the inputs might change several times, you add an additional curve, or color correct, clamp. So you then have to rename that new node to what you wanted.
i would still prefer a name field to put what I want and that that would stay no matter what you connect.
Maybe both options
Also, wait a bit longer and see what more people say.

Hey!
Thanks Gosho for the update, the workflow you showed is very helpful. I will need to rename if I add a clamp or curve like what David explained.
If it is possible to do the naming directly to the the layered texture/Blend material that would be the best/easiest workflow
If not, I can live with what you showed above.
