[PHI-2265] RENDERING CLOUDS Volume grid shader: missing key "Phase" control

    Hey, now that we have the colored absorption, the custom Phase function is the final big thing we are missing - I hope it will shape up over the coming months.

    Can you share how your clouds render now? We are doing another Phoenix tutorial on clouds right now, so maybe we could help with the settings.

      Hi, here are some tests I made under different sun heights and angles. I’m not happy at all with how they look and would welcome any tips.

        Hey,

        Can you show us the settings you're using for the Clouds shading?

        How about if you try ray-traced scattering and set the clouds color to pure white?

              Hey,

              We do have something working internally, still needs some polishing though.

              Should be coming soon, but I'm afraid I can't say when exactly.

                        Probably we will make a simpler version of the scattering available at first, and then keep improving it over time. Right now the big question is whether this would be able to make it into the official V-Ray 6.0, or we will miss it and add it in an update...

                          While waiting...may i ask, how many bounces and how r render times?

                            Hey, the one above is around 2 and a half minutes, but the one below is close to 20. We don't keep the bounces though

                            The dark edges are something our shader has never been able to do before, so I hope we can have an initial version of this public sooner just so everyone who needs it can use it, and then we will be speeding it up or making it more flexible...

                                Svetlin.Nikolov Hi, any update on the progress of new volume grid shader? I had a chance to test phase in v6 in Max, but it seems it`s not in VFH nightlies yet..., any other improvements on speed/quality you guys are working on? I saw GI depth in the nightlies, that`s very nice addition, thanks!
