Is it possible to re-render only a specific object in a scene? Keep the rest of the frame intact in the VFB, and render only within the outline of whatever you have selected/marked, like an object-shaped render region?

You can use the render mask for this: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ple:RenderMask
There's an option to clear the frame buffer or not. Keep in mind that in animation it is always force-cleared, as it will produces undesired results most of the time.

Here's a video we did some time ago on the 'isolate select' mode of the render mask specifically. The rest of the modes are similar, except for the 'texture' mode.

I love this feature. I have used this to re-render parts of a character twice, each on different parts where I spot the shader needs to be tweaked, for the full sequence. It works great where I can just merge re-render parts over in comp. Thanks Chaos!
          always curious...

Thank you Yolov, that is exactly what I was looking for. This is going to save me a lot of render time
