  • Maya 2019 Release

    Hi

Looks like Maya 2019 just dropped.

I'm hoping you guys have a VRay build ready to go, as we have been stuck on Maya 2018, with VRay 3.6 for what feels like forever. We wanted to make a clean break to 2019 and VRay next, as not to break any legacy projects.

Can you share an ETA yet?

    Thanks,
    David.

We're working on it, but we don't have an ETA on when there will be VRay builds for Maya 2019.

Must say I'm pretty disappointed with the new 2019 release - responsive viewport good but thats about it!

We'll have 2019 support in the nightlies quite soon. An official release would require some more time to make sure everything is stable.

Yes, was expecting something...new since there was a 6 month delay.

Bug fixes are good though I guess.

Bug fixes are great, but I wish they could do what sideFX and many other companies do and have more readily available nightly releases without having to be a studio of 1000 artists. We should not have to wait till a major release for bug fixes period. Even weekly bug fix releases would be better than what they are doing now.

...and please dont forget to deploy V-ray 3.6.5 or 3.6.6 ( not only Next edition) for Maya 2019. Some studios still need to use 3.6 because of hardware problems (sse 4.2 needed for cpu!).
                Cheers

Access to Nightlies over the email support? Thanks p.s. Maya2019 is for me a great update! I couldn't believe my eyes: working on animation scene, that is about playing 14times faster than in maya 2018 and possible scrubbing in realtime, where the old crashed. So this is the most urgent needed vray update for me. It would be stupid to work anymore in maya2018 with animation...

Yes the animation caching is also the reason for us.

We already have internal builds that we want to test some more before giving them out. We'll be releasing official support for 2019 very soon.

                              Hi Alex,

I realise it is difficult to pin down release dates when testing is on going, but do you have a ball park estimate? Are we looking days or weeks, maybe?

We just upgraded to V-Ray Next to use with a new project and ideal want to start fresh with Maya 2019.

                              Thanks,
                              David.
