Long time Maya user here. I've spent most of that time relying on consumer grade GFX cards, with the occasional low/mid range Quadro. In the last year or so, I've been experiencing near daily crashes in Maya, and on two different machines (1080ti in one, 980ti in the other). It usually occurs when switching between tools, selecting items in the viewport, modifying properties or other things that I feel could be related to the display card. The crash logs don't seem to contain any useful, actionable information.
So my question is simple - any evidence, anecdotal or otherwise, that Quadros reduce crashing/bugginess in Maya? Does Vray prefer one over the other in terms of stability/reliability? I've always seen Quadros as an overpriced marketing gimmick targeting professionals (meaning people with deeper pockets) with mediocre hardware and better quality drivers. Am I wrong? Just trying to solve these crashes by taking a look at every possible cause.
Thanks!
