  • VRayProxy regex overrides, how to use?

    Hi there,

    Can anyone explain how to use the regex shader overrides in the new VRayProxy please? I'm looking at wildcards for example all objects but I cant seem to get them working.

    Any help appreciated.

    I am able to get the following working;

    * in order to shader override everything.

    I can also override specific shading groups.

    I dont seem however to be able to override specific objects or groups?

          Hi, these overrides use wildcards to match objects in the hierarchy, so you can override visibility or shaders.
          So, for example, you can set a wood shader for objects matching *wood*. Any specific shader assignment from the hierarchy will override the *wood* assignment for that specific object.

          There is a known problem with alembic instancing and shader assignment. You can try disabling instancing in "Alembic proxy parameters" rollout.

            Also, if you want the viewport preview to work with shading, you have to use "full geometry" preview. This limitation is also being worked on.

              the wildcard * is not working for me, or I'm doing something wrong

                Sorry to say, shader overrides by geometry work only for alembics. Check this post.
