  • saved glare effect

    Hi folks.

I'm not getting what I expected from the lens effect glare layer.
It shows fine in the VFB but when saved out the glare stops at the geometry edge. Alpha cuts it off even the effectsResult has it cut off.
    Any ideas?

That's because the .png premultiplies the alpha and since the lens effects are a post-process effect, it gets cut. You can bypass this by rendering the Glare separately without alpha. Check the "Don't save alpha channel" option (Render Settings > Common > Image File Output) and render. Afterward, you comp the alpha RGB with the non-alpha Glare.

Nuke, but it should work with any comp software that has a "plus/add" blending mode.

EDIT: Maybe this question was not addressed to me...

I was wondering if it was photoshop as it auto alphas PNG, but theres a plugin called PNG which can open them without premult.
