  • Physical Camera focus distance without affecting exposure

Hello, is there any way to adjust the focus distance without affecting the exposure of the scene with VRay physical camera? Thanks in advance!

Not that I know of, besides it's physically accurate that way.

It would be a good idea to have the option to turn this feature off. There are some instances where especially in animations for info graphics and close up of technical details where you may need to zoom in close to a component. an still use features like vertical lens shift.

After a discussion with the devs, I've logged an improvement request (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-14382).

Great news, How do you track bugs is there a place where we can see progress or is it just internal?
Does it also get fixed for Max and maya at the same time?

Not sure about Maya, but you can disable this internal lens falloff in Max by disabling exposure control (No Exposure).

            More discussion here:

As a large format photographer who had to compensate for this all the time manually I can see the allure of disabling it. It’s almost never something you actually want. It’s just a fact of physics.

It's internal. It will most likely affect both host platforms.
