  • GI Light Bounce

    Hi,
sorry if this has been ask before but after a search I couldn't find anything about it.

So my question is how do I define the number of bounce in the irradiance map or light cache.
In the documentation, there is a sample showing 4 and 8 bounces. What is the parameter that define that?

    Thanks.

You maybe thinking of "Brute force", as it has a limited number of bounces. I think Light Cache is near infinity bounces or something.

Brute force has an obvious option. But according to the documentation: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/maya...xamples_GI.htm (see bottom of the page), you can control the bounce number for Irradiance Map.

        Hmmm, I don't see that.

The way it's being controlled is the second bounce with brute force? According to those examples, irradiance mapping is only equal to once bounce.

Yes you are right, only the brute force has several light bounce. Thanks.

No worries, if you want to control the amount it bleeds, you could probably just use the saturation option or just the engine multipliers. Good luck!
