I managed to combine a normal and bump map by putting the normal map into a VrayMtl and then using that as the base shader in a VrayBumpMtl and putting the bump map there. This works, but I was just wondering if this was the best way to achieve this? Is there for example another method that yields faster render times, or would this be the preferred way to combine normal and bump maps?

there is a container for that. If you look you'll see a normal bump material that has two slots. One for your normal map and one for your bump map. I don't know the speeds difference.Bobby Parker

Are you thinking of Max possibly? I think this has 2 slots, but Maya AFAIK only has 1.Last edited by sharktacos; 01-09-2010, 10:34 AM.
