  • Bump Normals?

In mental ray it is possible to obtain a material normals that takes into account the bump map of a shader. Is this currently possible with vray?

Technically - yes; there is a VRayBumpNormals render element in V-Ray for 3ds Max; not sure if it's in the Maya version though, I have to check.

    Best regards,

This is what the VRayBumpNormals Element does in Max

Will this be implemented in the next version of Vray?

I think it's forgotten in Maya. We will add it.

btw, it would be great to have a "use bump normals" checkbox in other RE's too. (if you are outputting an extra reflection map or other textures that can utilize the bump.)
