  • Scatter fog workflow?

    Hey Everyone,

    I've been messing around with scatter fog. I need to do a search light type thing, but I can't seem to get a high enough quality without render times skyrocketing because i have to crank up subdivs.

    what is everyone's workflow for this? constraining the scatter fog to geo container seems to help a little bit. What type of AA are you using. Right now I have to resort back to MR for volumetric effects because the render time are very quick.

    I want to keep everything in vray...but the cost of the volumetrics are killing me.

    any help is appreciated.

      adaptive dmc sampling with threshold at .010.
      Max 4 subdivs
      AA Area @ 1.5
      8 subdivs on the fog itself, sometimes a bit more

      As for the fog parameters itself, this is handy reference:

        that makes sense... i was using scatter fog vs env fog.... that works much better.. try and do the same thing with scatter fog...and you'll never get a clean result.
