  • Opacity optimization ?

I am doing some test with opacity map.
    Here the setup :

We have the first plane on the ground, and a second plane in front of the camera.
The first plane have a VrayMtl with glossy reflection, the second plane is fully transparente (opacity map is black).

First render, just with the first plane :

    1 min 55.

Same render with the second plane :

It is the same image, yes, but the time : 2 min 44 ! +42%

The samples rates are the same :

Do you think it is possible to optimize the opacity map when it is fully black ?

Can you attach the scene here?

      Best regards,

Here a simple scene for you Vlado.
Just hide/unhide the pPlane2 to see the difference render time.

I just compared the rays result, all rays result are the same (Camera rays, Shadow rays, Reflection rays).

With this scene, you have :
        - without the pPlane2 : 2min36
        - with the pPlane2 : 4min15

I can reproduce the slowdown and I entered an issue in our bug tracker, and one of our developers is looking into it.

              Best regards,
              Vlado
