    hi,
    I tried to map as example the Height Multiplier with a simple 2Dnoise, to archive different regions with different Wavehights.
    It doesnt work - the waves are gone complite.

    I tried it with file texture too - nothing happens - only flat plane results.

    What can I do to map the parms of WaterTex?

    Hi,

    This parameter is simple number, no texture lookup is done during texture generation, so you can't connect it to 2d texture.

      thanks for answer...
      so it´s not possible to define reginons with more and less wavehight..?
      and not possible to add as example a bow wave per displace map..?
      this would be hard.

      any idea for a workaround?

        Have you tried to use Multiply/Divide node between the Displacement and VRayWater?
        I've tried it with Checker texture and it seems to work. What I've done is connected the VRayWater texture to input1 and the Checker.outputB to multDivide.input2Z.
        multDivide.input2X and multDivide.input2Y should be 1.
        I think you can use a noise texture, too.

        Keep in mind that Vector displacement is a bit unintuitive, because for x and y the middle (0.0) is actually 0.5.

          Hi,
          that works. Wonderfull.
          With noise and fractal too.
          And it works with file textures too!
          Thanks for the hint.

          But what can I do, to add as example a bow wake, to a ship?
          I tried a fake per wire deformer but that results in ugly deformations.
          For me, the best would be to add it per projected texture.
          But it must be higher than the normal waves.

          Any idea?

            Hi,

            Probably you could use something like this: http://www.planetinaction.com/software/shipwake.htm
            The other option is a full blown fluid simulator. There is no VRay thing at the moment which does it.
