  • Odd specular noise

So I have some odd noise I am getting in my specular pass. I feel like its not whats expected from the material settings I have and the kind of light I'm using. What I am wondering is if this indeed typical noise and I just need to provide more samples or if this being cause by something else. My current settings are good enough to have a clean render except the object in the image.

What are your gamma settings? Is the noise due to the light or the reflections (you can check the specular and reflection render elements respectively).

My gamma is set at 2.2 in the color mapping roll out and the noise is in the specular pass . The image on the left above is the specular pass.

could be the subdivisions of your light. specular quality is controlled through light subdivisions as opposed to reflective glossies controlled by the material settings.
