  • Quick Question - Hidden objects - slow down renders ?

    Hey guys,

    A very quick one this.
Do you know if lots of hidden geometry can slow down the rendering, or have an impact on memory ?

Nothing bad is happening but I was just curious.

it would be pretty easy to test your theory.

Yeah I'm pretty sure in my presets I have it set to that, along with the hidden lights.
Will know a bit later on though.

if you simply delete the hidden geometry/lights and try rendering, does anything change? if not, then its probably something else. Check your dynamic memory limit (first thing to check)

                Hi Dmitry,

As I mentioned it wasn't a case of noticing any problems, just a hypothetical question that I thought perhaps someone would know.
Obviously I'll try a test when I can.

Hey guys.. I just wanted to share that with a new build of V-Ray its always best to NOT use any pre-existing render presets. I ran into issues in production using old presets with new builds.

Cheers for the heads up, I tend to make the presets per-thing I'm messing around with.
                    Good to know anyway

                      What issues?
Is this something we can fix?
