For the moment no, I want to see what kind of problems will come up in the 3ds Max version. If it works fine, we'll think about a Maya version.

does it have to be a helper? can it not just be an option in render globals?

We don't have the possibility to extend the renderer UI with a plugin yet, so that's why it's a separate object.

Hey Chaos, with this in the scene, it seems that when you do a V-Ray RT no geo shows up.

Hi,
embree currently does not work it RT, the normal vray raycaster is used instead.
But anyways, your geo should still show up . If you attach the scene in question here (or send it to me), we can check it out.

on tonight's build (22638 jan 8, 2013), maya 2013, sp1, win7 64bit, i7 6-core, 48GB ram, I get the following error when loading vray:

// Error: Error loading plugin library "\\disks\nas0\CGI\_plugins\maya\vray\2.25_VRAYx64_ Maya_2013_NIGHTLY_22638\maya_vray\vrayplugins\vray _Embree.dll" (-1073741795): Unknown error //


could this be an issue with central install? I can render fine, unless I create a vrayEmbree node, then no dice.

p.s. if I try to render with the vrayEmbree node in the scene, I get:

Looks like Embree dll was not in install file so it did not install.. might be missing?
