  • adding bleed to camera

    Hi all.
Does anyone know how to add bleed to an image?

I need to re render the image not changing it but with extra 10px for a bleed. I dont want to scale the image to create the bleed and I cant change the position of the camera.

Bah - Sry, this is the maya forum. On Script spot there's an overscan script for Max. I'm sure one exists for maya. Good luck!

not sure what you mean by bleed. If you need overscan, then you go to camera settings, camera scale, is set to 1.0, its a % of your frame. So if you want to overscan by 10%, you can set camera scale to 1.1 and then take your resolution and multiply it by 10%, the image will be rendered exactly as your original but with 10% more around the frame borders.

Hi Morbid that's exactly what I was looking for, I didn't connect that 1.1overscan would be a 10% difference on resolution.
          Many thanks.

yeah things like that in maya with camera are a lot easier then in max.

Clearly. Someday I re-learn Maya. It's been a while. I miss the Poly Split Tool. Cut in max just isn't the same.

tell me about. It has never been quite like maya's. Im working in maya and max on and off, each time i favor maya, its of course a preference of an artist, but i just find it more streamlined for what we do. I do miss some max stuff, some modifiers are cool, but they don't beat the reference/node systems in maya

i always find scaling the camera to be dodgey.... you can also multiply the film back (H & V Aperture) and then the resolution by the same amount (percentage) and that works very well to..... I've written a script that will change these values and store the original values of the camera in case you need to revert them.
