  • Trace sets?

    Hi,
Does Vray support ray-trace sets? Ie can I make one set which elusively traces within that set and excludes other sets?

    Thanks,
    Philip

    Hi,
Like : you want for example a set A have reflections of a set B, but not on a set C.
But not just for reflection, for all (GI...) ?

If it is this, +1 for me, i want more VRay optimization.

For the moment, we don't have that, but it is on the "to do" list.

        Best regards,

Hehehe.. I remember this from the Renderman days. The glory is that you don't actually need to do that with V-Ray since V-Ray is king of the trace. Of course I guess you could always optimize more.

Would be great to have such powerful optimizing workflow for vray. I agree, that vray is already good optimized in case of tracing, but its even better if the user has the ability to choose what he want to see traced or not.
+100 if you put such feature in.

+1 here as well....not even for speed, but for more creative possibilities...

U mean I can tell what object to trace with what/materials?

                Thanks, bye.

no....i mean renderman style object sets....that may be defined inside the shader....same as with the current implementation of the VrayDirt-Set

                    Hi,
I know it is on "to do" list but, what is the priority of this ? (A object include/exclude in the reflection/refraction/Gi/shd of a material)
It will be great if this big request can be in VRay 3.0.

                      Hi,

I've raised the priority on this task.
I hope to be implemented soon.

                        Yeah !!!
this is one of the most missing piece of VRay !
it's not only a point for optimisation, it's about "look" control as well.

                        thx

                          Hello everyone,

We would like to inform you that this feature has been implemented in Vray 3.0 beta version.
It is possible now to include/exclude objects from reflections/refractions via vray-object-properties:

Excellent! I am currently waiting to get our IT dept to install vray 3. I look forward to test this.
