  • Physical camera - Guess horiz and guess vert?

I see these options mentioned in tutorials for the physical cam for 3ds Max, but they aren't there in Maya. Is there a manual way I could achieve the same effect as in http://viscorbel.com/vray-tutorials/...ra-simplified/
Basically, I'd like to have my verticals straight for my arch vis images.

Wow, didn't even know Max had this feature. A Geuss button would save a lot of time trying to manually get those verts straight. +1 please Chaos.

      Hi,

Your request is added to our "to do" list.
I hope it will be implemented soon.

        Awesome, great to hear!

In the mean time, is there a good workflow for achieving straight verticals? (I know next to nothing about real world cameras, so the Physical cam settings baffle me somewhat in this regard)

You'll just have to adjust the shift parameter until you get what you need. You can use V-Ray RT for a quick preview of the result.

          Best regards,

Thanks, will play with Lens Shift in the Physical Camera attributes and see what I come up with.

Hi, the 'guess vertical lens shift' button is now added to the physical camera and will be available in the next nightly build. (also added a horizontal lens shift slider, but not a button - manual adjustment there only).

              Best,

Hi Emil, thanks for the addition.

I can confirm the new nightly build works with the guess button.

However V-Ray distance text seems to be broken in this new build?

Well, that's probably another issue .
                  We'll look into it.

                  Best,

Can you describe what is broken?
My simple test seems to work fine at least with the build from today.

                      Sorry to steal the thread,

I'll double check Teodor, but it didn't seem to work a couple builds ago, but will test again with a new one....if you don't hear from me in this thread again all is working as well.
