  • How to show V-Ray textures in Hypershade?

Anyone know how I can make the V-Ray-specific textures (Create → V-Ray → Texture from V-Ray plugin) show up in the Hypershade's node list?
    Best Regards,
    Fredrik

There is no as far as I know and I don't think it is possible to be implemented.

This is possible to do in the latest nightly builds if you tell V-Ray to automatically create and register a Maya shading node for a particular texture type. However that means that you have to:

      a) Get a Maya plugin ID for the shading node from somewhere, and
      b) Generate a shader description file that specifies the plugin ID for the shader and describes its parameters.

In the latest nightly builds, this is done for example for the V-Ray multiprojection texture.

        Ah, thank you!

If possible, I think it would be pretty nice to have these show in the node list of the hypershade by default for future releases of V-Ray.

          Hi,
For me no, i don't want this. Or, in the hypershade, have a category for this. But i think it is a bad idea to merge Maya texture nodes and low level VRay texture nodes, because some Maya texture....use low level VRay texture.

I'm with bigboss on this one; it might make sense to expose some shaders, but it would be an overkill to do it for all of them (and some are only intended for internal use).
