  • Shadersetup req: Control of near far VRayEnvironmentFog distance

    Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone here knows how to setup the VRayEnvironmentFog with a shader that could control near/far properties?

Ideally, getting the fog to start like 50m away from the camera to infinity would be perfect.

I'm mucking around with the FalloffTex plugin texture but have had no luck so far.

Do you need a gradual start of the fog?

    Best regards,

      Hello Vlado,

Well I think the VRayEnvironmentFog already has a gradual start to the fog, it works well in most instances....so I guess I'd be after something so that the fog suddenly starts at a designated distance.

Obviously one could attach the fog to Mesh (using the Invisible Shader method), but this technique could be handy with a moving camera. I think it would also offer a quicker way to setup once I figure out the shading network if this is indeed possible.

well as far as my knowledge goes u can make a bounding box from where u would like to have a fog and so on...

Thanks Bazuka, yes that is possible and I thought of it, but I'm thinking more of a "computer game" type fog, where it moves with the camera.

I suppose one could parent the bounding box full of fog to the camera, but I thought that it would be easier to set it up with just a distance type shader and that solution wouldn't really work for multiple cameras in a scene away...however this shader based fog is obviously probably not possible.

Is that the effect that you want to achieve?
