  • Rendering curves?

    Is it possible to render curves with vray, similar to how one can do this in renderman?
    thx!

    Just add extra v-ray attributes to shape node of the curve

      you can also select a group of curves and add vray renderable curve node to control them all at once.

          in maya if you go to create menu, under vray, select create vray renderable curve >> apply single control node for the selection. You have to have your curves selected first. It will create the control node for that selection. Those nodes are basically mutual/exclusive sets, so you can add/subtract curves from it as you please.

            I checked in both the current version (Maya 2013, vray 2.3) and in the latest stable version and I do not see that option in the vray create menu. What version are you using?

            Also when I apply the vrayHairMtl3 to the curve I get a fatal error:
            Code:
            // Error: Exception [module=1] : Rendering region (0,0)-(64,64) //
            // Error: There was a fatal error rendering the scene. //
            and it fails to render, crashing Maya on some machines

            Is this a known bug? The vrayMtl seems to work fine...
