  • crash with mipmapped exr

Anyone have trouble using mipmapped exrs?

    I have a super simple case where I convert a texture to exr using img2tiledexr <input.jpg> <output.exr>

I attach it to a Vray material using a Maya file node. And instantly I get a crash. No rendering. Is this a Maya bug?

    I'm running 2013 with Vray 2.30.01

The shell output looks like this:
    ----

We had similar issues with some full float EXR files. Hooking up the file node then 'texting' in the file path to it (python, mel or parsing the scene file) completed the hookup successfully. Anything through the GUI would bork.

FYI, If you get crashes when rendering, try leaving your mipmap filter at quadratic.

I will check the official build, but have you tried a more recent stable one from the nightly builds website?

      Best regards,
      Vlado

        Hi Vlado,
I haven't tried a newer version. I'm actually not sure where the url is to download nightly builds.

        A bit more info.

Running Maya 2013_64 without the Vray plugin. Exr created using img2tiledexr works fine.
Running with the Vray plugin. Exr created using img2tiledexr works fine with a Maya Blinn Shader. But not a VrayMtl.

I'll get digging and see if we can get a newer build installed.

        Thanks
        Frankie

We will get you more information on newer builds if you email us to vraymaya@chaosgroup.com

It will also be very helpful if you can get us a scene that crashes to the same email.

          Best regards,
          Vlado
