rendering only a section of the camera view

does anyone know of a way to specify just a small section of the camera view to be rendered?

hi

yes but in a maya batch on the farm.
i can get around it by adding a couple of planes over the camera lens to crop.
i was hoping i could save some extra time/memory by doing this through vray..

is this possible?...

We send standalone files to the farm from maya. I've often forgotten and left the crop region on... it translates and only renders that region selected in the VFB.

The other thing you could consider is a sphereFade. That way it can be parented to your object and you don't need to worry about it going out of your region.
