  • Deep composite with Vray for Maya and Nuke: Nuke vrst deep reader

Hi, I was following this tutorial:

    http://therenderblog.com/deep-compositing-with-vray/

I managed to output some deep images but I cannot find the 'vrstReaderDeep.dll' which is needed for nuke to be able to read those images.

any clue where I can find it?

    Thanks in advance,

Write an e-mail to support @ chaosgroup.com I think they can provide it.

It would be best to write deep OpenEXR files directly, rather than go through .vrst files.

      Best regards,

Thank you so much for quick replies, I'll try writing deep exr first (which makes more sense for our pipeline too) and will see what happens!

          Hi,
I also try to render Phoenix FD smoke in deep EXR files to Nuke from Maya.
I use Render Mode Volumetric Geometry and from the EXR options Deep is checked. Still Nuke 7 cant deepRead this EXR file saying "no deep data found".

Is there anything else that has been done to have deep data in EXR?

            Update:

I was just notified by support that the writing-from-vray/reading-in-nuke of deep exr is not available in the current commercial verison of vray (2.4). you need either get the nightly builds (contact sales) or wait for the next release.

We have sent you all the plugins required to use the Vrst data in Nuke. But like Vlado mentioned above
it would be best to write deep OpenEXR files directly
which is available only in the nightly builds.

I use nightly build of Vray (23899), and yet if I save EXR with Deep (its default anyway?), Nuke complains that no deep data was found.

Checked with the same V-Ray build and Maya 2014/Nuke 7.0 and seems to work fine. Very simple setup with default settings, a sphere, VFB On and file format set to Deep Exr.

Did you try with simple scene?

Could you post one Deep Exr image to check it here?

Have you switched the Image format parameter in the settings to "exr (deep)"?

If you mean from output image options, VRST options deep is checked (default anyway).
I cant find any mention about deep from anywhere else.

You only have to check "exr (deep)" like Teodor mentioned above.

Oh dear, I feel stupid! Newer thought to scroll down formats to find it. Now it works as expected, thank you guys!
Maybe exr(deep) could be next to "normal" exr down in the list.
