  • VrayToon query

    Hello all,

is there a way to use vraytoon to drive a bump map on objects, i have seen a great tutorial on making nibbled edges here

    http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/200...illet-tutorial

The trouble is this only works for very simple geom i need some other way to isolate the edges on more complex shapes, which is why i thought of vraytoon could be the way. However it only seems to be a globally assigned and i cant seem to use it to drive an attribute on a material. Is this possible?

    cheers

It is not possible with VRayToon unfortunately. In 3ds Max, it is possible to make geometry edges visible or invisible and this information is used by the VRayEdgesTex, but I don't think we have this in Maya.

    Best regards,

thanks for the heads up, i can do it with some decent uving and texture maps i just wanted some nice procedural quick solution. I have used vrayedgetex before in maya but it is just a simple wireframe render and puts a line on every edge, are you saying that there is more to the VRayEdgesTex in max and you have some control over what edges are rendered vertex or geometry edges?

      cheers

In 3DSMax there is a option to make edges visible/invisible which is taken into account from VrayEdgesTex. Unfortunately in Maya edge-visibility cannot be changed manually as fas as I know.
